Singer and songwriter Prince may be in London, but those waiting for the concert to begin were at least sheltered from the Purple Rain thanks to Zoopla.

There certainly wasn’t any sorrow among those queuing to see the American star perform at the Electric Ballroom today after Zoopla handed out its large purple brollies to protect them from the elements.

As the bad weather continued, a purple glow of umbrellas was seen winding around the block as ticketholders waited to enter the Camden venue.

Performing with his new band, 3RDEYEGIRL, the 55-year-old billed the intimate concert as a ‘sound check’. It was infact a chance for the hitmaker to showcase his new album, Plectrum Electrum.

Prince flew into London on Tuesday to promote his new tracks, but details of his tour remain uncertain. However, he has reportedly indicated that he will play ‘iconic’ venues along the lines of music club the Bag o’ Nails, where Jimi Hendrix once performed, and Ronnie Scott’s jazz club.

It is alleged the tickets cost less than £10, with the star suggesting: “It is a new band, people are getting something new.”

Purple Rain was the sixth studio album by Prince and The Revolution, and was the soundtrack album to the 1984 film Purple Rain. It was released on June 25, 1984 and is widely ranked among the best albums in music history.
